The Lankavatara Sutra ? A Mahayana text translated for the first time from the original Sanskrit by DAISETZ TEITARO SUZUKI. The Lankavatara Sutra is one of nine principal, and one of the most important, texts of Mahayana Buddhism. Lankavatara literally means ?entering into Lanka?. Lanka is one of the islands in the south of India, identified as Ceylon. ?Entering?, refers to the Buddha coming over to that Island. Some of the important theories expounded in the Lankavatara Sutra are: The Doctrine of Mind-Only, The Conception of No-Birth, The Triple body of the Buddha and The Tathagata.
